before you skip over this post due to the title, know that it is not just about marriage and boyfriends. It’s about God’s sweet love too.
Love, a word that carries so much meaning and it’s also a word that is a strong topic of discussion at the place in my life. Everyone seems to be talking about it. Wether it’s, the “So and So say they love each other…” Or “I love your shoes.” Or “I am in love with you.” It seems like the word Love has lost it’s meaning a little bit. It’s such a strong word that is thrown around in every day discussion. But, when it comes right down to it, love is so much more than just a word you say to make someone feel better. It’s incredibly deep and we cannot fully understand Love. Love, in my opinion, is involved within two things. Relationships (referring to Marriage) and Christ’s love.
Marriage. I honestly can’t wait for that chapter of my life. I can’t wait to get to know that person and their family. I can’t wait to plan a wedding. I can’t wait to get married to my best friend. I can’t wait to have a family and raise kids. I can’t wait to grow old with someone. I guess I just can’t wait to fall in love. This kind of love is something we are talking a lot about in my Bible class right now. We are talking about qualities we want in a spouse and the kind of ways to prepare ourselves for marriage. It’s so nice to be able to sit in a Bible class and listen to Mr. Hough speak about everything we haven’t thought about yet. Mr. Hough is teaching us things about marriage, love, and life that most of us have never even heard about. I am so incredibly blessed to have him as a teacher. Something Mr. Hough is talking about it how love is way more serious than our generation believes. Our generation believes that love is just another word that makes someone feel good about themselves. Its tossed around a lot! I guess I just see it differently. It means a whole lot to me. I think that true love is something that I don’t understand. But, I am so excited to know what that is like.
Something WAY deeper than that kind of love is, Christ’s love. The more I think about it the more I am completely fascinated by it. God loves us in so many different ways. It’s the making you late for school so, you don’t end up running that light and dying in a car wreck. It’s the peace you get when you pray. It’s the understand his gives through His verses. It’s the answers He gives when you feel like there aren’t any. God’s love never gives up. It’s never over. As humans, we live off of a schedule. It’s something we thrive off of. Time and Schedules are the basis of our human lives. The fact that God’s love for us is INFINITE absolutely blows my mind. We can’t comprehend it. We do not have the brain capacity to understand that. 1 Corinthians 13, is ALL about Christ’s love for us and how we are supposed to love others:
“Love never gives up.
Love cares more for others than for self.
Love doesn’t want what it doesn’t have.
Love doesn’t strut,
Doesn’t have a swelled head,
Doesn’t force itself on others,
Isn’t always “me first,”
Doesn’t fly off the handle,
Doesn’t keep score of the sins of others,
Doesn’t revel when others grovel,
Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,
Puts up with anything,
Trusts God always,
Always looks for the best,
Never looks back,
But keeps going to the end.”
(^This is the message version.)
It’s so incredibly deep. God’s love will never give up. It CARES about you. CARES so deeply that He sent his son to die. His love NEVER looks back. God knows everything about you and loves you anyway. I’m going to type that again because it’s awesome. God knows everything about you and loves you anyway. HE LOVES YOU ANYWAY. That’s cool to think about, because I’ve screwed up and I don’t deserve that kind of love. But, God freely gives that to us. It’s so sweet. I am beyond grateful and humbled by that kind of love.
